Loaded Cheeseburger Walking Nachos (Potato Chip Version)

Step-by-Step Cooking Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add diced onions and sauté slowly until they turn tender and deeply caramelized, which takes roughly 5 minutes. Scoop the cooked onions out into a small bowl and set them aside for later.

  2. Leave the flavorful residual drippings in the same skillet, then add your ground beef. Cook the beef until it is fully browned, crumbled into small even pieces, and cooked through entirely, about 5 minutes. Drain off all excess fat to avoid an overly greasy finished dish. Stir in ketchup, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, along with a small splash of water to help the seasonings coat the beef evenly. Let the mixture cook for 1 more minute to let the flavors meld, then remove the skillet from heat.

  3. Set your unopened bag of potato chips flat on a clean work surface. Use a sharp knife to carefully poke a hole through the center of the top of the bag. Cut a criss-cross pattern across the top of the bag as directed, then fold back the four cut flaps to open the bag wide and expose all the chips inside.

  4. Spread the hot seasoned ground beef evenly over the chips inside the bag. Next, layer on sliced American cheese, the caramelized onions you set aside earlier, and ¼ cup of finely chopped pickles.

  5. Prepare the special sauce in a small bowl: whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle brine, 2 tablespoons of extra chopped pickles, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and paprika until the mixture is completely smooth. Drizzle the finished sauce generously over your loaded walking nachos. Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh chopped dill, then dig in and enjoy!
